RYTHMS OF STEEL
TORONTO PAVILION IN COLLABORATION WITH WANG WANG AND EDWARD WU
Located in the Yonge-Dundas square, RHYTHMS OF STEEL mimics the spatial qualities of the city around it, allowing people to walk in between the towering frames, presenting a miniature skyline to the commuters and students.
Constructed from doors and bleachers, and interspersed with LED message boards, RHYTHMS OF STEEL is a deconstruction of city life: each message is written in a different language, representing the city as a gathering place for all.
Positioned in the junction of public spaces, the pavilion encourages a break in routine for the people passing through the square.
