TEMPORAL PAVILION 2021

The Docking pavilion was developed using field theory and gets its name from its interlocking possibly infinite structure. The fastener free system allows for the pavilion to be easily disassembled and moved. Also, over the course of its life each material will age at a different rate: biodegradable fabrics will disintegrate over the course of the winter, allowing more wind to pass through as the weather warms, they plywood will silver and melt into the environment, while the concrete will be rubbed smooth with the patterns of its users. Although adaptable to any landscape Docking’s positioning is key, here it looks down the Humber valley past a fire pit and three sisters garden. Likewise Docking provides a different, but equally intriguing experience for all users, from children running through and over to adults sitting where the bench height best suits them. The Docking pavilion is an infinite structure of infinite possibilities to engage landscape, the environment and, most importantly, the community.
